Privacy Policy

Readwith (“we”, “us”) provides a private reading room and optional Discuss companions. This policy covers the website and app experiences we operate.

If something here conflicts with a later counsel-approved policy, the approved policy controls.

Account data: email, auth identifiers, and profile preferences (theme, locale).

Usage data: reading progress, library metadata, Discuss session timing for credits, and basic product analytics needed to run and improve the service.

Content you provide: uploaded books, annotations, and messages you send in Discuss.

We use data to authenticate you, sync your library and progress, power Discuss with spoiler-aware knowledge, bill companion credits, and keep the product secure and reliable.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your book contents to train public models outside our product pipeline without a clear, separate consent flow.

Books you upload are stored so you can read across devices. We create embeddings and chapter-aware chunks so companions can answer with progress-gated context.

Covers and titles may be shown in your private library UI. Your library is not a public social feed.

Discuss sessions may be processed by AI and voice providers under our contracts so companions can respond in text or voice.

We send what is needed for the session (prompts, relevant knowledge snippets, progress context). Providers process data under their terms and our configuration; we aim to minimize retention where the product allows.

We share data with processors who help us run Readwith: hosting, database, auth, payments, email, and AI providers.

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect users and the service. In a merger or sale, data may transfer under continued privacy commitments.

We keep account and library data while your account is active. You can delete your account; we then delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain records (e.g. billing, legal holds).

Cached copies on your devices are under your control when you clear site data.

You can update profile preferences, export or delete books where the product allows, and request account deletion.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise those rights.

We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, access controls, least-privilege service roles). No method is perfectly secure; please use a strong unique password and protect your devices.

Readwith is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
